Pregnancy is a life-changing event. After all, you’re nurturing another life inside you. Starting from pregnancy swelling to feeling stressed and vomiting, you’ll undergo several changes.

But, in the midst of all this, you’ll be anxious about the child’s health you’re building inside you. You may find it difficult to cope with your worries about your little one’s health inside you and your pregnancy health.

With prenatal stress, you may give birth prematurely, or to a low-birth-weight baby.

There are several ways to survive pregnancy stress and anxiety.

Eat in balance:

Although your tongue craves a lot of sweets, spicy, tangy, etc., eating nutritious can reduce stress levels. Sometimes, treating yourself with something nice can bring back your mental peace.

Practice breathing techniques and be active:

Taking long and deep breaths helps. Meditation is one of the best ways to treat your stress and anxiety, in which you sit calmly and take long and deep breaths through your nostrils, or nose or mouth. Do some yoga, go out brisk walking, swimming, etc. Listen to some soothing music.

Talk things out

You can always consult a psychologist and go to antenatal classes with your partner to share thoughts and anxiety. You can connect with the other pregnant mums and new mums to discuss the experiences and keep a journal with you to write down whatever you’re thinking and keep your mind calm.

Ask for help from the people you trust

Accepting help when it's offered is important during pregnancy is good. Whether it's assistance with cleaning the house, taking care of other children, or having someone accompany you to prenatal visits, allowing others to support you can greatly alleviate stress and anxiety. It's okay to seek support from trusted individuals to ensure you have the physical and emotional help you need during this important time.

Take rest

Pregnant women don’t fall asleep at the drop of a hat. Aim for 7 to 9 hours of sleep at night. You can additionally take sips of herbal caffeine-free tea. Reduce your screen time before going to bed.

Pregnancy stress and anxiety are common symptoms. Alleviate your worries, by communicating with the people you love and trust.
