As new parents, you might have to consider your baby’s health and well-being your top priority. Since the little one’s immunity is not that strong, and the weak body is incapable of fighting diseases. The human immune system is a complex network of proteins and cells that work together to defend the body against infections. When viruses or bacteria invade the body, white blood cells identify them as foreign and produce antibodies to fight infection. These antibodies are crucial in preventing illness. The immune system's primary function is safeguarding the body by recognizing foreign invaders and mounting a defence against them.

All new parents need to recognise the signs of a baby’s weak immune system like frequent infection, slow wound healing, etc.

However, there are natural ways to make the immune system of your baby strong:

Breastfeed the baby

Breast milk includes fats, proteins, probiotics, antibiotics, etc., to support the baby’s immune system. The new mom prepares antibodies to fight germs in the baby’s body, and those antibodies get passed on to the baby’s body through breast milk. But, diseases like polio or measles can be treated with medical help, breastfeeding can’t help it.

Give supplements

Antibiotics can reduce the potency of gut bacteria, which is crucial for immunity. Following an antibiotic course, probiotics are recommended for boosting immunity and maintaining gut health. Also, probiotics are safe during late pregnancy and after delivery. However, it’s best to consult your healthcare practitioner before you start giving supplements to your baby.

Vaccinate your baby

Vaccination is one of the most effective and safest ways to protect babies from serious diseases. When vaccinated, the immune system reacts like a bacteria or virus. The germ will be recognized by your baby's immune system when it comes in contact with him in the future. Afterwards, it will deliver a response that prevents serious complications from occurring and prevents the disease from progressing.

Include physical activity

You can boost your baby's immune system by exercising or playing with him or her. When your baby is a toddler, you can introduce them to activities like swimming and gymnastics, or give them space to run around. Active babies are less likely to fall ill because they are better equipped to fight bacteria and germs.
