Smoking is an addiction. As per the reports from the U.S Surgeon General smoking cigarette smoking causes lungs cancer. 50 years hence smoking has been responsible for many awful diseases, thus making tobacco one of the leading causes of death.

So, continue reading to find out some of the essential side effects of smoking especially in men and women

Visionary and Hearing Loss

Smoking can have a detrimental effect on important eye structures such as the retina, lens, and macula. These structures are crucial for maintaining clear vision and eyesight, and smoking can cause damage to them. Studies have also shown that smokers are 70% more likely to develop hearing loss than nonsmokers. This is because nicotine, which is present in cigarettes, interferes with the function of neurotransmitters. These neurotransmitters are responsible for transporting sound information from the inner ear to the brain. So, smoking not only affects your vision but also your hearing.

Chronic Respiratory Problems

This is another problem of smoking. There is a higher chance of it’s causing lungs cancer, as well as other disorders of lungs. The lungs alveoli, or tiny air sacs and the respiratory tract may be negatively impacted. In addition, you can get asthma attacks as a result of smoking.

Heart Diseases

When you smoke, you expose your body to more than 7000 chemicals, many of which can hurt our cardiovascular system and prevent it from functioning as it should. Research has further shown that smoking is a leading cause of heart disease and stroke, both of which are major cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). That means, there is an increased risk chest pain, heart attack, heart failure, etc.

Erectile Dysfunction

Your sexual function is not going to be impacted positively after smoking. That’s because tobacco is responsible for thinning the blood vessels all over the body, including the blood supply to the penis.

Diminishes the eggs while you’re trying for pregnancy

Chemicals released from smoking, such as nicotine, cyanide, and carbon monoxide, can have a significant impact on fertility in both men and women. For women, smoking can rapidly diminish egg reserves, making it more difficult to conceive.
