The birth of a baby comes with a lot of challenges – both for the new mom and the newborn. Spending most of the time breastfeeding the little one, bathing, swaddling, attending to the cries, and preparing a sleep schedule is difficult. Father is the constant support during this phase, since the golden hour of holding the little one in his arms.
With Father’s Day approaching, here are a few tips curated for all fathers to bond with their newborn babies.

Snuggle your little one immediately after birth
The first hour after the birth of the baby is the “golden hour.” You get the crucial skin-to-skin touch during that time. Through this skin-to-skin contact, your little one listens to your heartbeat and learns to smell.
Skin-to-skin touch while bathing and massaging the little one
Getting skin-to-skin contact while bathing the baby and massaging the little one keeps the newborn’s body temperature in control, reduces the stress of the baby, keeps the blood sugar controlled, and helps in releasing the love hormones.
Singing to the little one
It’s fun to cuddle, bathe, and massage your baby and sing to the little one even the hoarse voice. Choose a special song. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect and bond with your baby.
Make eye contact with your baby
Research shows that eye contact syncs with the baby’s brain, and this is the first step of communication with your little one. Additionally, the baby develops a sense of security too. Through the eye contact, they exchange information with each other.
Reading to the baby
Maybe you could read your favourite novel, magazine, or newspaper. Additionally, as the baby starts growing up, you read more age-appropriate books. Books with pictures will be more attractive for the infant.
Being active
You can hold the baby in your arms and walk. When the baby grows up a little, you can carry the baby in a baby carrier or a stroller. As the baby gets older, putting them in a child seat on a bike, using a jogging stroller, or a bike trailer, is another alternative allowing dad to pick up the pace.
